Textures of Life

This Encaustic painting is overflowing with layers of different textures; it contains stencils, grasses, fabric, and rice papers.

I used all these mediums as a metaphor for our own lives. As with this painting, life encompasses a vast story of layers and substances that frame our own existence.

Each one of us possess a composition that blanket our very being; physically, spiritually and emotionally.

The woman portrays a multi-faceted creature with all the textures of her experiences and lessons each of us have an opportunity to relish, honor, learn from and celebrate in our own lives.
